It's been about three weeks since I've made the deliberate decision to get in shape. Actually, my first step was about five months ago when I cut out soda completely. Three weeks ago I cut out other sweets and started an exercise regimen. I run/walk for 30 minutes each day, trying to run more today than I did yesterday.
Then there's my running shoes. They are ten or eleven years old. They're not exactly falling apart, but they've seen better days. I hesitate to buy a new pair because of the cost. I'm not even sure what a decent pair would cost. My soon to be ex wife bought this pair for me. Of course, the sky is the limit on the high end of what I could spend on shoes and other outfittings for running. I'm guessing I could get a decent pair of shoes for $50-$60. I should hop on to Amazon, and take a look.
I've lost about three pounds over the past three weeks (222 pounds down to 119, at 6'1" tall). I was 180 pounds in college. I'd say anything south of 200 would be a good goal, as long as I can find a way to maintain it.

Some unsolicited advice - You are risking injury running in old shoes - the cost of that will far outweigh the cost of decent shoes.
Part of self care is providing yourself with what you need.

I’d say this, invest in a good pair of running shoes, they’ll last you a while.
